Olympic Marketing Seminar takes place in Madrid

The latest Olympic Marketing Seminar took place in Madrid on 17-19 September and was attended by 57 representatives from 51 NOCs.

The first day of the seminar was opened by ANOC Secretary General and IOC Member Gunilla Lindberg as well as Spanish Olympic Committee President Alejandro Blanco and Olympic Solidarity Project Manager Silvia Lucciarini.

The NOCs of Spain, Botswana and Vanuatu then each made presentations in which they gave updates on their marketing activities since the last seminar. An introduction to Intel’s Olympic partnership and the NOC strategy was presented as well as TOP Partner activations at PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2020. In the afternoon, there was a presentation on ‘What’s New’ which focused on Olympic Festivals and an update on TMS.

On day two, the delegates were split into two groups. Group one took part in a workshop with P&G Associate Director of Communications which focused on the importance of storytelling. Group two was taken on a tour of the Olympic Channel before receiving a general presentation on the Channel, an update on how the Channel can support NOCs, and the widgets, marketing assets and content opportunities at the upcoming Youth Olympic Games. In the afternoon, the two groups swapped round.

The final day saw presentations given on best practices when working with Partners, both TOP and local, and a review of the Olympic Brand and Activation Guidelines.
