ANOC Secretary General presented Gangwon Honorary Citizenship and Korean Order of Sport in Seoul
ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg was today presented with Gangwon Honorary Citizenship and the Maengho Medal – one of Korea’s highest Orders of Sport – in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the success of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
The special distinctions were presented to Secretary General Lindberg in her capacity as chair of the IOC’s Coordination Commission, during a special forum dedicated to the achievements and future tasks of the PyeongChang 2108 Olympic Winter Games.
The Gangwon Honorary Citizenship was presented to Secretary General Lindberg by Mr Moon-soon Choi, Governor of Gangwon Province. While Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jonghwan Do presented the Order of Sport to her during a special ceremony following the forum.
Secretary General Lindberg said:
“It is a pleasure and honour to stand today in front of such a prestigious assembly. In many respects, Korea has become my home and it is good to be back home with all of you. Especially when it is about remembering the wonderful journey we have had together to deliver the PyeongChang Games.
“I am extremely honoured for the awards I received. I accept them humbly on behalf of all those that have been working tirelessly within the Olympic Movement to support you in the delivery of the Games.”
