2019 Olympism Camp by Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong
A three-Day “2019 Olympic Camp” was jointly organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and the Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited.
The camp was held at Sai Kung Outdoor Training facility to mark Beijing’s winning bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games as well as to celebrate the three Olympism values of “Excellence, Friendship and Respect”. Elements of Winter Olympic sports was included in the camp through interactive games, team activities, seminars and sharing sessions.
Following the successful experience of mixing elite athletes from the Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited and student athletes who have participated in “Olympism Education Programme” in the last Olympism Camp, there were a total of 61 athletes and student athletes joining the 3-day residential camp this year.
Participants expressed in the sharing session at the Closing Ceremony that the opportunity for student athletes to meet and learn from the elite athletes was valuable and inspiring, whilst elite athletes also expressed that they were highly impressed and motivated by the student athletes as all of them are keen sports lovers.
Prof. Frank FU, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Olympic Academy, wished that all the participating athletes could demonstrate the Olympic Values during their daily training and in competitions and also promote sports to general public and motivate others to participate in sports, ultimately, generate more elite athletes to represent Hong Kong in international competitions.
