Announcement of the Official Gold Coast, Commonwealth Games 2018 Team

The Cayman Islands Olympic Committee (CIOC) / Cayman Islands Commonwealth Games Federation is delighted to announce the naming of the official Cayman Islands Commonwealth Games team competing at the XXI Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia from the 4th-15th April, 2018.

The Cayman Islands will be represented by 22 athletes, across 7 sports – Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Shooting, Squash and Swimming.

The Cayman Islands first competed in the Commonwealth Games in 1978 in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Since that time we have competed in every edition of the Commonwealth Games for a total of 10 Games to date. This XXI Commonwealth Games will be our 11th. The Cayman Islands has remarkably won 2 medals, both of which have been in the sport of Athletics. Kareem Street-Thompson won a bronze medal in Manchester 2002 and Cydonie Mothersill was outstanding with the Gold medal performance in the 200m in Delhi 2010.
