ANOC Legal Commission meets via videoconference
The ANOC Legal Commission, led by Chair Michael Chambers, today concluded its two-day meeting via videconference.
Legal matters related to the ANOC World Beach Games were discussed including the development of a technical regulations guide for the Games to best inform NOCs, athletes and their coaches on important matters of a technical nature relating to the Games. Games and other sponsor rights and athletes’ image rights and their use to promote the Games were also discussed.
Revised Anti-Doping Rules for the Games were reviewed in detail with a view to ensuring that ANOC’s Anti-Doping Rules remain compliant with the new 2021 WADA Code.
The implications of COVID-19 both on the future hosting of the ANOC World Beach Games in terms of required protocols and on ANOC’s governance procedures were discussed with the Commission considering whether a clause ought to be inserted into the Constitution to allow for virtual General Assemblies in the future. In addition, the Commission spoke of the possibility of inserting additional Disciplinary rules into the Constitution broadly similar to those that may be found in Chapter 6 of the Olympic Charter.
