ANOC mourns loss of Andorra Olympic Committee Vice President Mr. François Garcia Garcia

ANOC is deeply saddened to learn that Mr. François Garcia Garcia, Vice President of the Andorra Olympic Committee, has passed away at the age of 79.

Garcia was a member of the board of the Andorra Olympic Committee for 16 years between 2004 and 2020 and served as Vice-President from 2016.

Garcia made a significant contribution to the development of sport within Andorra not just in his role within the NOC but also as President of the National Federation of Tennis (2005-2013) and President of the National Olympic Academy (2008-2020).

Garcia’s influence extended beyond Andorra and he also contributed to the Olympic Movement as a whole, serving as Chef de Mission at the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 and London 2012; Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Singapore 2010; European Winter Youth Olympic Festival (EWYOF) Jaca 2007 and Liberec 2011;  European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Trabzon 2011; Mediterranean Games in Pescara 2009 and Mersin 2013; Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in Monaco 2007, Cyprus 2009, Liechtenstein 2011, Luxembourg 2013 and Iceland 2015.
