ANOC Secretary General presents update at Panam Sports General Assembly in Lima

ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg attended the 64th Panam Sports General Assembly in Lima, Peru, presenting to delegates on the second day of proceedings.

In her presentation, Lindberg detailed preparations for the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026, highlighting the growth of the PEAK Uniform programme, with 50 NOCs set to utilise it in Dakar following two NOCs at Milano Cortina 2026. She shared further information on the preparations for the XXVIII ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong, China from 7-10 December, when a new ANOC President will be elected.

Lindberg also looked back at Milano Cortina 2026, outlining feedback and key learnings gathered through debrief sessions held between ANOC, the IOC, the French Alps 2030 Organising Committee and NOC representatives.

The General Assembly saw the election of three Panam Sports representatives on the ANOC Executive Council for the next term, with Renzo Manyari of Peru, María José Alcalá of Mexico and Alicia Masoni de Morea of Argentina elected by the region’s National Olympic Committees.

Delegates then voted on the host city for the 2029 Pan American Junior Games, selecting Rosario, Argentina ahead of Guatemala City. The Games will be held in Rosario for the first time, with more than 3,000 athletes from across the region expected to take part.

The General Assembly formed part of Panam Sports’ first Sports Week, which brought together National Olympic Committee presidents, secretary generals, athlete representatives and IOC members for a series of forums and discussions across the region’s Olympic Movement.

Earlier in the week, five roundtable discussions examined the future of the Pan American Games, athlete-centred policy, governance, NOC development and commercial strategy, while a further day was dedicated to the Women in Sport Forum and a series of Safe Sport presentations.
