ANOC Technical Site Visit Confirms Strong Preparations for Hong Kong 2026
With less than three months to go until the ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong, China, preparations are progressing well ahead of one of the most important gatherings of the National Olympic Committee community.
ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg recently travelled to Hong Kong with a small ANOC delegation for a technical site visit, working closely with the Local Organising Committee to review the venues, operations and key arrangements for the event.
The visit provided an opportunity to assess the different operational areas and continue coordination with the local team as preparations enter their final phase. All key elements are progressing according to plan, with ANOC and the Local Organising Committee working closely to ensure a successful experience for the participating National Olympic Committees and other members of the Olympic Movement.
One particularly encouraging sign has been the strong interest in the event from the local community. The Local Organising Committee has received more than 1,600 applications from people wishing to volunteer during the General Assembly, demonstrating the enthusiasm surrounding the event in Hong Kong.
The ANOC General Assembly will take place in Hong Kong, China, from 7 to 11 December 2026, bringing together representatives of the world’s National Olympic Committees as well as key stakeholders from across the Olympic Movement.
This year’s General Assembly will carry particular significance as ANOC’s member NOCs will elect the organisation’s new President, marking an important moment for the future of the Association.
With preparations now entering their final months, ANOC and the Local Organising Committee look forward to welcoming the global NOC family to Hong Kong in December.
