Chengdu, China, 7 August 2025 – The city of Chengdu is fully prepared to welcome athletes and fans for the 12th edition of The World Games, taking place from 7 to 17 August 2025. On the eve of the Opening Ceremony, the Executive Committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA) met with the Local Organising Committee to finalise all operational details, confirming that preparations are complete and the Games are ready to begin.

As part of its continued support for the broader Olympic Movement, ANOC.tv will broadcast competitions in baseball, squash, handball, gymnastics, archery, and flying disc throughout the Chengdu Games. These broadcasts further ANOC’s commitment to enhancing the visibility of athletes and sports across the Olympic ecosystem. ANOC.tv regularly features sports and events beyond the Olympic programme, and this latest collaboration underscores the platform’s growing role in promoting a wide array of international competitions.

The IWGA meetings in Chengdu covered all aspects of Games delivery, including ceremony protocols, medical and anti-doping operations, and the finalisation of international broadcast arrangements. With no major obstacles identified, all systems are in place for a successful edition of The World Games.

Collaboration with National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and National Sports Organisations (NSOs) was also a focal point. To date, 20 Memorandums of Understanding have been signed, with several more expected during the Chengdu Games. This reflects the IWGA’s strategic engagement with the Olympic family and the importance of long-term partnerships with key stakeholders.

Athlete engagement remains central to the Games, with elections underway for the IWGA Athletes’ Committee. Voting is open through 16 August, and the results will be announced later in the month. Additionally, the IWGA has advanced the review process of its new safeguarding policy, reinforcing its commitment to athlete welfare and integrity.

Chengdu is also hosting a delegation from Karlsruhe, Germany, the host city of The World Games 2029. The visit is part of the IWGA Observer Programme, providing future hosts with a first-hand look at the operational and strategic requirements of a major multi-sport event.

Audiences around the world can follow the action live and on-demand at ANOC.tv, as ANOC continues to spotlight the diversity and excellence of global sport.
