The Kazan World Grand Prix is one of the most important beach tennis tournaments in the circuit and took place from 23 to 25 July 2021 at the Kazan Tennis Academy. Fifty-four pairs from 13 countries competed in the Men’s and Women’s events over the course of three days. The fifth edition of the tournament distributed 50.000 USD in prize money among the top-ranked teams.
As the top-seeded pair, Antomi Ramos and his partner Michele Cappelletti beat in the first rounds the Russian couples Razvozov & Zinkeev and Filatkin & Kudrin as Gurev & Syrov. In the semi-final, the Italo-Spanish pair beat Vinicius Font – André Baran, Brazil’s number 1 pair and third-best in the world, with 6-4 and 7-6 (5).
In the final, they faced the revelation pair of the tournament, the Italians Marco Faccini – Diego Bollettinari. The favourites claimed the title in a spectacular match thanks to a victory by 6-3 and 7-6 (6).
Guilia Gasparri and Ninny Valentini, who already won the BT200 Ras Al Khaimah tournament, passed quite easily to the next rounds with their victories over the Russian pairs Goriunova & Zheludchenko and Chubarova & Kamenetchala. The Italian pair, who was seeded as the second-best pair in the tournament, faced the top-4 seeded pair Churakova & Muniz.
Gasparri and Valentini beat the Russian-Brazilian pair by 6-2 and 6-2 to face Bigimair & Casadel in the final. The Italo-German pair succeeded in the semi-final against the top-seeded pair Cimatti and Nobile. However, Gasparri and Valentini were too strong for Bigimair & Casadel, winning the tournament’s final match with 6-2 and 6-2.
