Hellenic Olympic Committee inaugurates its digital exhibition by attendance of the IOC President
Today the Hellenic Olympic Committee inaugurated its digital exhibition at the entrance of the NOC premises by attendance of the President of the International Olympic Committee Dr. Thomas Bach.
The digital exhibition presents all the modern Greek Olympic medalists and great moments from the Olympic Flame, as one of the most powerful symbols of Olympism.
The President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Spyros Capralos welcomed the IOC President. “I would like to thank President Bach for this first trip to Greece after his re-election, which is a great honor for our country. The IOC President has proved throughout the years of his term and in fact in many ways, that Greece has a special place in his heart. It’s a significant day for us, following the amendment of our Statutes, the Olympians will today elect their representative to the HOC General Assembly”.
“The digital exhibition we inaugurate today, is a minimal tribute to all those who honored our country since 1896 in the most important sporting event. We also present and highlight the most powerful Olympic symbols such as the Olympic Flame and the Olympic Flag and of course promote the values of Olympism. With the contribution of the great Olympic Channel Team we shall also be able to be connected and constantly updated on the developments of the Olympic Movement” said Capralos.
President Thomas Bach said: “It is a great pleasure to be in Athens for many reasons, in addition to the friendship that connects us. The new HOC statute and the elections that are being held today for the athletes’ representatives in the Plenary Session, the new lighting at the Panathenaic Stadium and this digital exhibition that connects the present with the future reflect the content of the Agenda 2020. Greece today has a triple lead, as in addition that is always the first country to enter the stadium at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, it is the first country I visit after my re-election and it is the first country to receive the Olympic Trophy, the IOC award reflecting the Olympic House in Lausanne”.
Following his speech the IOC President delivered to Mr. Spyros Capralos the Olympic Trophy.
The event, which took place with the strict compliance of all health protocols and a minimum presence of people, was also attended by the members of the HOC Executive Committee, the President of the International Olympic Academy, the Secretary General of the World Fencing Federation, the IOC honorary member Lambis Nikolaou, the President of Greek Olympians, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association and the CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS).
