NOC Hong Kong, China introduces new categories in 2021 sports stars awards

The year 2021 has been a brilliant year for Hong Kong sports, including one gold medal, two silver and three bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

In order to honour the athletes who attained outstanding achievements in the international sports arenas, the Cathay 2021 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards (HKSSA) is now open for nomination from all National Sports Associations (NSAs).

A press conference hosted by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) was held at Olympic House on 12 November to announce the details.

The new award categories of “Hong Kong Sports Star Awards for Men” and “Hong Kong Sports Star Awards for Women” were introduced.

Five athletes will be awarded in each category. The highest votes among the winners, one male and one female awardee, will be awarded “Best of the Best Hong Kong Sports Stars Award for Men & Women”.

This year has seen Hong Kong compete in Tokyo 2020 and also in the 14th China National Games, and the awards are ready to come back with new features.

The press conference was hosted by the NOC President Timothy Fok, Edward Bell of Cathay and Dr. Karl C. Kwok, the NOC Vice-President and Chair of the awards organising committee.
