Jakarta-Palembang 2018 Asian Games Athletes’ Village converted into Emergency Hospital for coronavirus pandemic

The Athletes’ Village from the Jakarta-Palembang 2018 Asian Games is being converted into an Emergency Hospital in order to support the Indonesian health authorities manage the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the country.

The last three days have been spent installing all the necessary medical equipment to ensure the hospital can be operational from Monday 23 March.

IOC Member and former President of the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (NOC), Erick Tohir, visited the village to offer his support.

With medical facilities and medical practitioners coming under an increasing amount of strain, NOCs and sports organisations around the world are contributing facilities and personnel to help manage the outbreak.
