ANOC mourns loss of former German NOC President WALTHER TRÖGER

ANOC is saddened to learn that Walther Tröger’s , IOC Honorary Member and former President of the German National Olympic Committee (DOSB), has passed away at the age of 91.

Mr Tröger was President of the DOSB between 1992 and 2002 having previously served as Secretary General between 1970 and 1992. During that time, he was also as 1st Vice-President of the German Basketball Federation between 1976 and 2006 and as a member of the FIBA Sports Commission 1964 and 1994.

He was a  IOC Sports Director between 1983 and 1990 and became an Honorary Member in 2010. As an IOC Member he was involved in many different Commissions and served as Director, Chairman and an honorary member of the Sport for all Commission. He also was involved in the preparation of multiple Olympic Games through his role on Coordination Commissions for Nagano 1998 and Salt Lake City 2002.

ANOC’s thoughts are with Mr Tröger’s friends and family during this difficult time.
