The organisers of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games celebrate the 500-day countdown to the next edition of the continent’s greatest multisport event. This Sunday, a massive community fun run will culminate the week of countdown celebrations. The “Santiago 2023 Family Run” will consist of distances of five and ten kilometers and will begin on June 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Bicentennial Park of Cerrillos.

The free event will have different categories including awards for para-athlete competitors. The goal is to bring together the symbolic figure of 2’023 runners in honor of the year the Games will be held. All participants will enjoy a circuit in the community that will be one of the main destinations for next year’s multisport event as the home of the Athlete Village and the site for a few competitions.

Santiago 2023 Executive Director Gianna Cunazza invites everyone to participate in the event. “Every day we get closer to Santiago 2023 and we want to celebrate it together with the citizens, especially the inhabitants of Cerrillos who will host the most outstanding sports figures in the Americas,” said Cunazza.

The entrance to the park will be at 6’100 Pedro Aguirre Cerda Avenue at the corner of Calle Las Américas. Participants will also receive their kits at the same location on Saturday between 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., consisting of a t-shirt, bag and bib number with a timing chip.

In addition to the race, a Fan Fest will take place inside the park with the participation of the Official Mascot, Fiu. There will also be artistic shows with bands and various educational workshops about the multisport events that will be held from 20th October to 26th November 2023, bringing together more than 9,000 athletes from 41 countries.
