ANOC is committed to sustainability and to providing a platform for National Olympic Committees to share and exchange best practice on this critical subject.
On 17 December 2020, ANOC joined the UNFCCC’s Sports for Climate Action initiative as part of its pledge to minimise its carbon footprint and ensure that sustainability is embedded into its everyday operations as well as its events. The Sports for Climate Action framework aims to support and guide sports actors in achieving global climate change goals. Key among these is that signatories are requested to commit to halving their emissions by 2030 and aiming to achieve net-zero by 2040. In December 2023, ANOC joined the Race to Zero.
Working in collaboration with the IOC, ANOC is encouraging NOCs to sign up for the Sports for Climate Action framework and to take an active role in striving towards climate neutrality. For NOCs who are interested in becoming signatories of the Sports for Climate Action framework more information on how to sign up can be found. here.
