
ANOC Secretary General Ms. Gunilla Lindberg at the 54th European Olympic Committees General Assembly
Frankfurt, 28 February – 1 March 2025: The 54th European Olympic Committees (EOC) General Assembly saw the active participation of Ms. Gunilla Lindberg, Secretary General of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC). Ms. Lindberg provided a comprehensive report on ANOC’s activities since the General Assembly held in Cascais in October 2024.
Ms. Lindberg detailed the significant outcomes and impacts of the ANOC General Assembly in Cascais, emphasizing the progress made on various initiatives. She highlighted the collaborative feedback session with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and National Olympic Committees (NOCs) regarding the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, focusing on enhancing the overall experience and efficiency. ANOC’s ongoing work with NOCs to evaluate the Games Qualification system was discussed, aiming to generate a report with recommendations for the IOC and International Federations (IFs).
Ms. Lindberg also presented the efforts to build a new ANOC strategic plan, incorporating input from NOCs gathered during the General Assembly. This plan aims to guide ANOC’s future direction and priorities. Mrs. Anneke Van Zanen-Nieberg, President of the Netherlands NOC, and Mr. Rogger Schnegg, Secretary General of the Swiss NOC, reported on their progress as members of the Strategic Plan Working Group, sharing insights into the development process and the collaborative efforts involved.
In addition, Ms. Lindberg reported on the progress in preparing for the 2026 ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong. She also shared the results of the Artificial Intelligence workshops being held online, which have seen active participation from global NOCs.
The NOCs were invited to provide their input on the preliminary version of the strategic plan, which is scheduled to be distributed to all NOCs for feedback by March 7th, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach to finalizing the plan. Ms. Lindberg’s participation and detailed reporting underscored ANOC’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement in the Olympic movement. The assembly provided a valuable platform for sharing progress and gathering feedback from the European NOCs.
