
THE CONCACAF BEACH SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP 2021 IS UNDERWAY IN ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA
The 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship started in Alajuela, Costa Rica, with Mexico playing Belize and Erick Samano scoring the tournament’s first goal.
Defending champions Mexico and hosts Costa Rica finalised the preliminary round on top of their respective groups. The best eight teams advance to the quarterfinals, which are due to start on Friday 21 May.

Group A
Mexico took the top spot with a 5-3 win over Panama. Thanks to their 8-1 victory against Belize, the Panamanian team ended as runner-up. Group A was the only group composed of three teams, with the best two advancing to the knock-out stage.
Group B
El Salvador claimed first place with a perfect 3W-0D-0L record after beating Bahamas 7-2 in the last match of the group. Guatemala defeated the Dominican Republic 10-1 to reach second place in the group and qualify for the next round. Lesly St. Fleur, who scored five goals in the opening match against the Dominican Republic, was responsible for the Bahamas, finishing third and qualifying for the knock-out stage.
Group C
In a thrilling match, Costa Rica defeated the United States 5-4, with Greivin Pacheco scoring a hat trick. Costa Rica’s victory positioned them on top of the table, leaving the United States in the second position. Trinidad and Tobago secured their place in the next round thanks to a 7-5 victory against the Turks and Caicos Islands.
