
Mongolia signs MOU to support athletes’ bid to qualify for Tokyo 2020
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: Athletes in Mongolia bidding to take part in the Olympics and Paralympics received a boost with a Memorandum of Understanding being signed between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and state-owned enterprise Erdenet.
Yo Baatarbileg, Minister of Sport, and Badamsuren Khookhor, Director-General of Erdenet, signed a MOU supporting athletes and the national team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.
The MOU creates many opportunities, including improving the training environment of athletes, taking part in Olympic qualification events and taking part in joint training camps overseas.
To date, two shooters and two para-taekwondo athletes have qualified to compete in Tokyo 2020. Mongolia is bidding to get 40 other athletes in other sports qualified for the Olympics.
Mongolia sent 37 athletes to Rio 2016 Olympics.
