NOC Romania launches PLAYING INTO SPORTS online platform

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Romania in partnership with The Aspen Institute Romania, The Romanian Commercial Bank, The Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Yout and Sports, has launched the national online platform ‘Playing into Sports.’

Inspired by the roots of the “Project Play” programme of the Aspen Institute, ‘Playing into Sports’ is a national programme designed to promote mass sports and physical participation among  children.

The idea is to let the kids have fun with a wide range of specific educational sports exercises and inspiring parents to encourage their children into sports while spending quality time together. The programme also aims to increase children’s self-esteem and instill the importance of living an active lifestyle that they take into their adult lives.

A number of Romanian Olympic Champions, local sports icons and celebrities joined the initiative as Ambassadors, offering their  advice and promoting the platform on various media channels.

Mihai Covaliu, President of NOC Romania: “Kids are natural athletes, but they just don’t know it yet. This platform is meant to bring them and their parents to scratch the cover of this marvellous world of sports, get a glimpse of it in a fun way, give the kids the chance to choose which one suits them best and, if any, why not go further with it in an organised environment and even on a high-performance level. In my opinion, the most important aspect is that this program is designed in such a way as to eventually turn it into a family matter.”

Besides its website (sportulsejoaca.ro), the “PLAYING INTO SPORTS” educational platform also has its dedicated Youtube channel (#sportulsejoaca) and Facebook page (@sportulsejoaca).
