Yemen Athletes’ Committee organises sports psychology seminar for national team players
Yemen Olympic Committee’s Athletes Committee is organising a symposium this week on the subject of psychological support for national team players.
The Secretary General of the Yemen Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdullah Al-Ahjri, has stressed the importance of psychological support for national athletes at a symposium held at the Olympic Centre on 22nd March.
Addressing 86 male and female athletes as well as coaches at the seminar, which was organised by the NOC’s Athletes Committee with backing from IOC Olympic Solidarity, Secretary General Al-Ahjri placed emphasis on the mental aspect of sport playing a huge and decisive role in the self-confidence of athletes.
Al-Ahjri noted that the Athletes Committee will increase the frequency of these workshops and seminars so that athletes can learn how not to be overawed by any situation they face in the competition arena.
Lecturer Abdullah Al-Badani then identified the psychological skills associated with sport, dwelling on the importance of focusing attention to the moment and mentally visualising ways to achieve success.
Also attending the one-day symposium were senior officials of various sports federations.
