OCA General Assembly concludes in Jakarta
The annual OCA General Assembly took place in Jakarta on 19 August on the occasion of the Jakarta-Palembang 2018 Asian Games.
OCA and ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and Indonesia Vice-President Jusuf Kalla opened the meeting.
Host City contracts were signed for the Sanya 2020 Asian Beach Games and 2026 Asian Games in Aichi and Nahoya in Japan. Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games gave a progress report on their preparations which included information on the sports programme and their official emblem. The Organising Committees of Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 also presented progress reports.
ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg presented an update on ANOC’s activities. Lindberg reflected on the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games and the debrief of the event, before discussing the preparations for the upcoming ANOC General Assembly and ANOC Awards in Tokyo at the end of November. Lindberg was also joined by ANOC World Beach Games San Diego 2019 Organising Committee President Vincent Mudd who gave an update on the Games.
Secretary General of Kuwait Olympic Committee, Obaid Z. Al-Anzi thanked the IOC and the OCA for their support in the provisional lifting of their suspension.
WADA also presented to the General Assembly and were followed by a presentation from HRH Prince Faisal Al-Hussein on the Prevention of Harassment and Abuse in Sports.
