ANOC President and Secretary General meet Afghanistan women’s volleyball team at Islamic Solidarity Games

ANOC President Robin Mitchell and ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg met with the women’s Afghanistan women’s volleyball team at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.

The ANOC leadership met with the team following their match against Tajikistan and commended them for their performance and the inspiring message they are sharing at these Games. They were joined by IOC Member from Morocco Nawal El Moutawakel.

Speaking to ANOC.tv Afghanistan women’s volleyball team member Mahbooba Husseini said:

“Our main goal is not to only to pursue our dreams and a new adventure but also we are here to show and to represent Afghan women and to show the world that if we have the right equality we are going to pursue our dreams and shine.”

ANOC’s partnership with the ISSA for the Islamic Solidarity Games is creating a platform for athletes to share their stories and engage with their fans back home and around the world.
