EOC President Capralos awarded prestigious Guirlande d’Honneur 2026
EOC President Spyros Capralos has received the prestigious Guirlande d’Honneur, the highest award from the Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (FICTS).
The Guirlande d’Honneur is considered the “Oscar of Sports, Television and Cinema” and is awarded to individuals who stand out for a significant action to promote cultural and ethical values.
By receiving the Guirlande d’Honneur, President Capralos also earns entry to the FICTS Hall of Fame, alongside a host of renowned former winners.
President Capralos was honoured during the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 at the Opening Ceremony of the SPORT MOVIES & TV 2026 – Together for the Games festival, and he expressed his gratitude for receiving the honour.
“Receiving the Guirlande d’Honneur, and joining the FICTS Hall of Fame alongside so many iconic figures from sport, cinema and television, is both humbling and deeply meaningful,” President Capralos said.
“This recognition is not only mine. It belongs to the wider Olympic Family in Europe, and to all those who work every day – often behind the scenes – to promote and uphold Olympic values through sport, culture, and education.
“Sport and storytelling have a unique power to bring people together, to inspire, and to transmit values across generations and borders.”
“SPORT MOVIES & TV 2026 – Together for the Games” is scheduled to run until 11 February 2026, organised by FICTS in collaboration with the Lombardy Region and the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation.
It offers an immersion in Olympic and sporting culture through three days of ceremonies, photographic exhibitions, an exhibition of Olympic memorabilia, screenings and meetings.
