NOCs Strengthen Global Efforts to Prevent Competition Manipulation
National Olympic Committees (NOCs) around the world continue to advance their commitment to safeguarding sport integrity by enhancing prevention measures against competition manipulation and collaborating with key partners across the public and private sectors.
On 12 November, a joint workshop was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as part of the IOC–INTERPOL Integrity in Sport Initiative. The session brought together approximately 50 representatives from NOCs, law enforcement bodies and state authorities from six countries across the Gulf and South Asia: the UAE, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The workshop offered participants an opportunity to deepen their understanding of competition manipulation, share best practices, and explore ways to strengthen national cooperation in protecting sport integrity. Participants also attended the INTERPOL Annual Anti-Match Fixing Taskforce Meeting (IMFTF), which convenes members of INTERPOL’s global police network dedicated to tackling manipulation of sports competitions.
In a separate initiative, the Brazilian NOC organised the 2nd Safe Sport Forum on 12 October, bringing together sports organisations, government representatives, law enforcement agencies and betting sector stakeholders. The Forum focused on raising awareness of competition manipulation and fostering multi-sector cooperation to address this growing challenge. The Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM Unit PMC) participated and presented its ongoing work supporting NOCs and partners worldwide.
ANOC encourages NOCs to continue enhancing their integrity frameworks through collaboration and access to resources available across the Olympic Movement. NOCs wishing to receive support or guidance in developing prevention activities can contact the OM Unit PMC at: omunitpmc@olympic.org
