Europe’s National Olympic Committees (NOCs) will vote from among five finalists to decide the winner of the 10th Winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize (PNP) for the Best European Young Athlete on 3 October.

Voting will take place among NOCs on the first day of the 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum in Malta, with the Award Ceremony held later that evening during the Gala Dinner.

The five finalists for the 10th Winter edition of the PNP are as follows, and more can be read on each of their achievements below:
• Mr Yaroslav Lavreniuk (UKR) – Skeleton
• Mr Unai Lopez Sousa (ESP) – Snowboarding
• Mr Finn Sonnekalb (GER) – Speed Skating

The PNP is awarded to an athlete aged between 14 and 18 who has excelled in their sport and embodied the Olympic Values both inside and outside of competition over the past year.

It is named after the former Polish NOC President Piotr Nurowski, with the first Summer edition held in 2011 and a separate Winter edition introduced in 2016.

All five finalists are recognised with a trophy and a training scholarship provided by the EOC.

Hungarian taekwondo athlete Viviana Márton won the 13th Summer Piotr Nurowski Prize during the 54th EOC General Assembly in Frankfurt, Germany earlier this year.

The 9th Winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize was won by Finnish Nordic combined athlete Minja Korhonen at the 53rd EOC General Assembly in Bucharest, Romania.
